I buy Prelude '99 4WS in Poland but car was imported from Milano in January '08.
I think something is wrong with car because engine numer is H22A5
but in documents is 147kw (H22A8). Car looks like H22A8 ( red engine, Intake from TypeS, short gearbox etc.)
VIN number : JHMBB8150XCxxxxxx
Do you know this car from Milano ? What about the past of this car ? Maybe owner was from hondaclub.it ?
Thank you very much for any answer !
Hi Czex, welcome to HCI.
First of all, you've got a 185hp H22A5 into your engine bay instead of the 200hp H22A8 that should be there, because H22A5 is what is written on the block. No matters the color of the valve cover or what the registration or the fender tag says. Let's not fuck around here.
Perhaps somebody did swap the engines and sold this car, keeping the other with the A8; or maybe the previous owner blew the A8 and replaced it with an incorrect one (A5) selling the car eventually, and that, also, would explain why you've found the original intake and everything at its place.
By the way, how do you tell for sure that the intake in your car is the one of the TypeS?
About what to do, I believe there's not much you can do at this point, especially if you paid for the car already.
Who did sell the car to you? Any warranty? What Polish law says about unmatching engine type?
If it's ok to drive a car with a different engine, I would drive it "as is", keeping an eye open on H22A8s for sale. Once found it, you might buy it and sell the A5 that's currently under your hood. I cannot see any other solution.
Sorry Czex, but you've been screwed. I would at least try to find out who's the son of a whore.
