D3 Double X Brace *Pics 56k beware*
Price: $175 (group buy price) + $9.50 (handling ) + $16.xx shipping
The box is massive and shipping should have been crazy; but DHL pwns.
Includes: Brace and Instructions. You just reuse the stock bolts.
Install: impossible or near impossible. More to follow.
Review: The x-brace looks excellent. It has complete stainless steel construction; which is different than the other dull metal they used for their first production run. The welds look excellent, and everything all together looks top notch. Once on, I noticed a few things:
The steering wheel feels a more heavy.
The car feels more stable @ highway speeds, and seems to track straighter.
With my AC on, my esmm shook the car violently. The brace mitigates the effects I'd say by around 25%ish. Nice little bonus.
Last, and most importantly. Acceleration out of sharp, slow turns = bliss. I know this is cliche, but it feels like you are on rails. You point and mash the gas, and it goes without a hint of wandering. To be honest, I enjoy catching red lights when I have to turn left. How crazy is that?
I am attending an autox on Aug. 21st, and I can't wait to try this thing out. The course is small and has a lot of slow turns, so this should help out considerably. I'll post back then.
Other: The double x-brace won't get in the way of oil changes. It also sits pretty low on the underside of the car, but probably no lower than the height at which your b-pipe hangs, so that shouldn't matter much.
