TDI north + FN2 Mugen =

A little project we have been working on for some time.

Car came to us on the recommendation of a Honda Dealership as the place to go to get more out of the car. And we did. An awful lot more!

We put the car on the rollers and it made bang on 240bhp.
We then fitted a new ECU so we could retain the very rare M20 ECU and I could hook up the Flashpro and start to tune it.
Results with just a re-map were pretty impressive. Lower VTEC yielded healthy midrange gains and we got a fair bit more power out of the car and it drove far more like mine for anyone that has experienced it will know.

We then fitted a CT supercharger.

Few days later and after long discussions we decided the next route to approach for security of the motor and to extract the best possible power with what we had was to lower the compression slightly but while the motor was apart it seemed rude not to do a few upgrades and build something totally 1off for a very special car.

What we now have is a custom forged 2.2 motor with what could only be described as a “bastardised” Toda 2.2 Stroker kit.
The crank has been re-worked to reduce the weight further, it retains the Toda I-beam rods but we have gone for Cosworth pistons which give us the required compression ratio. We also decked the block, ported and flowed the head matching it to the new Toda manifold and Supercharger intake plenum. We also installed Toda A3 camshafts, valve-springs chain and tensioner for good measure.

We are also running our TDi North boost by gear system to help get the power down and an oil cooler system we have developed for the FN2.

Cosmetic changes we fitted a Mugen Aero bonnet, side fenders and full rear bumper as well as installing the Mugen Assist gauges and a nice set of Takata harnesses.

Altogether it’s allowed us to put together what I would consider the “Ultimate” Type-R with the best parts available that only looks the part…goes like the clappers!
