Hi guys, I recently moved to Torino to work in the car industry as a design engineer. I bought a Honda Civic VIII diesel because I love Hondas, but after the used car salesman misfueled it with some petrol I have had problems since the first day.. So I may be on here a lot, looking for help and advise!

did you buy it from a car dealership?

I don't know.. It seems pretty unbelievable but the facts speak for themselves.

The story is..

Tested car at used car dealer (not a big dealer) car had probably 2litres of diesel in it. Sent my Fiancee to collect the car, the seller had added 1/4 tank of petrol in the fuel station across the road from his salesroom before she arrived. My fiancee added 1/2 tank of diesel. Drove 200km, injector failed, sticking open, probably hydrolocking the cylinder. She is very sure that she did not put petrol in and i believe her, because a diesel engine cannot run on 60% petrol.. it probably struggled to drive on the 30% petrol which would have been the ratio.. Anyway, we cannot prove who did it. The fuel also blocked the FAP. Replaced injectors then after 5km testing with no exhaust to make sure everything else was ok, opened the DPF and removed the insides.. seemed ok.. Then after 25km the engine started to eat it's bearings..

I got a third party warranty with the car and so will try to use it. However, there is no FAP and as soon as the engine is resolved, the FAP light will come on and they will find no FAP.. Warranty probably will no pay if they find that..

So that is why right now i am trying to find a FAP! :S

Sì, abbiamo trovato 1 litro troppo olio nella coppa. Questo non avrà aiutato il cuscinetto a sostenere l'albero .. Qualcuno ha idee per scoprire quale dei cuscinetti è distrutto? (senza dissasemblare prima di prendo l'auto per il lavoro di garanzia)...

but how are you pretty sure of the mistake of salesman? because the damage is in according with the petrol refill?
dumb question: did you ask to him? and what did he answer to you?

We have not asked the salesman, 100% he will say it was not him because he is a cowboy. There was much I found he lied about... I can't be 100% sure of course who did it. But considering how much cleaning I had to do to get rid of the petrol smell from the pump, lines and injectors I'm quite sure there was a lot in there..

next time if you decide to buy a car from an italian salesman go with an italian engeneer.

Yeah, its like a jungle.. Although the car was ok when i tested it. I should have gone to collect it in person, the poor running alone would have made me turn back round.. Think I am going to buy a used FAP cheap from a differnent car then rip it's guts out and put it back inside the Honda FAP. LAter it's gettign cancelled anyway.. Thanks guys for your suggestions.

but you have the original one but empty, yes? Leave it and if the insurance ask you why is empty you say "I do not know, I buy the car as it is"

LuFo, the problem is that I had not done the FAP delete in ECU yet, after 5 mins, when they test the engine after replacing\fixing it, there will be a warning. They will check the warning and it will say preassure differential is too low (I know this because this is what it was doing when I was testing it). Then they will find an empty FAP. In the warranty smallprint it says they will not pay if there have been modifications, plus when the warning comes on the engine goes into limp home mode and it would be hard to believe it was being used like that.

I have ordered a Mercedes 2.2 fap for 80 euros delivered.. Looks similar size, will put it in there and it should provide enough back prressure not to cause problems.

Does anyone know if the warranty people will just take one look at it and say "new engine"? Do you know if they can install a used engine? And can I have control over the fact that I want a decent engine with less or equal KM? I tried getting a friend ringing the guaranzia company but they dont seem to know anything..
