You know, the layout that track snobs joke about as being "fail-wheel-drive." LMP1 program Team Principal Ben Bowlby explains how it works in a Nissan Q&A:

In any case, while Nissan has the capacity to drive the rear wheels that does not mean they will. While NISMO's mouthpiece Darren Cox has referred to the car as AWD (hence the GT-R moniker), it's not clear if they will actually run AWD at Le Mans. I believe they will, though Nissan's current description of the car as FWD does not make things straightforward.
